What to do with white vinegar

Pantry Staples: White Wine Vinegar

White wine vinegar is a great basic staple wherever you are.

It makes a gorgeous dressing on salads, gives salsa a bit of extra zing – and it’s a lovely match with fish-based dishes if you’ve got an angler on board!

It’s also very useful if you’re rehydrating dried legumes like chickpeas; add a tablespoon to the water during soaking for a tastier dinner.

White wine vinegar is also great for cleaning, deodorising and disinfecting. Something smelling a bit funky in the fridge? Give it a clean with white wine vinegar.

And my favourite trick: add a tablespoon to the water when boiling eggs. If the shell breaks during cooking, the egg won’t leak out.
