Auckland Council recently introduced new furnished canvas bell tents at the Orewa Beach Top 10 Holiday Park, Martins Bay Holiday Park, and Wenderholm Regional Park.
“Glamping is a first for Auckland Council and adds to [the] council’s portfolio of more than 100 holiday places across the region,” councillor Penny Hulse, chair of Auckland Council’s Environment and Community Committee says.
Citing that it’s ideal for first-time campers, Penny adds that glamping is a great way to explore Auckland, as “it takes away the pressure of having to purchase and transport all the equipment needed to go camping”.
The different locations have been chosen keeping in mind the views each site has to offer. While the tents in Orwea and Martins Bay provide a beachfront experience, the one in Wenderholm located on the edge pf the estuary offers a more back-to-basics experience.
All glamping tents are furnished with a queen-sized bed and single beds, if required, linen, tables, chairs, kitchenette, barbecue, cooking utensils, fresh water supply, and nearby toilet facilities.
Each tent can accommodate up to four people. The pricing is dependent on the location and the number of guests.
There are currently two tents each at Orewa Beach Top 10 Holiday Park and one at martins Bay Holiday Park. To book the ones at Orewa, call 0800 673 921 or e-mail obhpark@aucklandcouncil.govt.nz; for the ones at Wenderholm, call 09 366 2000; and for the one at Martins Bay, call 0800 624 7275 or e-mail mbhpark@aucklandcouncil.govt.nz.
