After living in their motorhome for 10 years, retirees Ann and Brian Martin were looking to utilise their motorhome in a different way. The decision to settle down closer to their family in a more permanent home, brought along the question of what to do with their four-berth Mitsubishi Canter. The couple, now living in Christchurch, decided that they would like to offer travellers, both local and international, the opportunity to enjoy their ‘home on the road’.
“We thought it would be nice to let other people hire our motorhome at a reasonable cost, so they could also enjoy having a holiday in a self-contained motorhome with facilities just like they would have at home. They would be able to see our beautiful country and scenery and stay at some of the lovely places that New Zealand has to offer,” says Brian.
Brian and Ann found out about SHAREaCAMPER, a new platform that gives motorhome owners the opportunity to make some money from their vehicle, while knowing that they’d always be 100 percent in control of their camper. Because they can choose to leave their personal equipment in the campervan for each hire, it is easy for them to take off on their own trips around the country whenever they want to.
“Since we joined the platform in August 2015, we have had a great experience in communicating with people throughout New Zealand and the world as well as the SHAREaCAMPER team about information, requests and bookings. We have had great support from the directors of the company, Kris Johnstone and Simone Missbrandt, in securing our bookings,” says Brian.
“SHAREaCAMPER’s focus is to make sure owners are comfortable throughout the whole process. Owners using our platform have full control over the price and availability, but most importantly every owner decides who they accept bookings from,” explains Simone Missbrandt, sales director New Zealand, “And they can do so based on our platform’s comprehensive profiles and ID verification features.”
Brian and Ann are looking forward to meeting excited travellers from all over the world and giving them the best experience they can, even including some home-baked cookies.
“We would recommend to other motorhome owners in New Zealand the opportunity of hiring out their motorhomes with SHAREaCAMPER. That way travellers from around the world can see New Zealand in all its splendour and owners can earn extra money when they are not using the vehicle for their own holidays.”
