A slide-out for added space, a full-width rear bathroom, and an all-electric seA slide-out for added space, a full-width rear bathroom, and an all-electric setup – the Maxus Vantage 7.0 is a feature-packed option that puts practicality front and centre, says Claire Smith

A new addition to RV Super Centre’s line-up, the Maxus Vantage 7.0 is built by one of the world’s largest vehicle manufacturers, SAIC Motor Corp Ltd. It’s a name that’s becoming more familiar in New Zealand, particularly in the light commercial space, and now increasingly in motorhomes as well.

A couple of things stand out straight away, and the layout allows for a full-width rear bathroom as well. It’s also an all-electric setup, removing the need for gas and keeping everything running off a single system.

Going big

At around seven metres in length, the Vantage 7.0 feels more open through the middle than you might expect, thanks to the slide-out along the side. Up front is the dinette, the kitchen runs along one wall, and the main bed sits opposite within that extended section.

When set up, the extra width through the centre gives the interior a more open feel and allows the bed to fold out into a full double. Above the cab, there’s an additional bed, giving it true four-berth capability.

At the rear, the bathroom runs full width, which gives you a bit more room to move. There’s a separate shower as well, which makes it a very practical setup.

Take a seat

Clean lines and uncomplicated tech make for a dream drive

The dinette sits up front and is set up as a four-person space, combining the swivel cab seats with a twin seat and table. It’s a simple arrangement providing a comfortable spot for meals, a place to sit with a laptop, or just a quiet spot to plan the day.

The colour palette works nicely, with soft greys and crisp whites giving it a clean, contemporary feel. The darker cabinetry adds a bit of contrast, while the overhead lighting softens everything, so it feels warm without being heavy. There’s storage overhead for the everyday items, along with a few practical touches built in around the seating.

Being positioned right at the front, it also feels nicely separate from the bedroom area, which helps give each space its own purpose.
With the table in place or packed away, it’s a space that can shift with you through the day, from a quick coffee stop to a more relaxed evening setup.

Big on bench space

Review: Maxus Vantage 7.0
There is ample bench space in the kitchen, ideal for prepping delicious meals

The kitchen runs along one side through the middle, sitting opposite the slide-out. The first thing you’ll notice is the ample bench space. With the sink and cooktop to one side, there’s actually some very usable space for prepping. And with an elegant marble-look finish, it looks good too. A clever drop-down extension on the other side of the cooktop adds even more space – something you’re always grateful for on the road.

A large window behind the bench brings in light and provides additional ventilation to the overhead rangehood. The three-burner induction cooktop keeps everything in line with the all-electric setup, supported by a microwave oven below.

There’s loads of storage too, with ample cupboards below the sink as well as overhead storage. The full-sized fridge/freezer is another plus, and one you’ll appreciate once you’re away on longer road trips.

Slide into a great sleep

The main bed is cleverly tucked into the slide-out, making good use of the extra space

Sleeping is split across two areas, with the main bed cleverly tucked into the slide-out along the side. When extended, it folds out into a full double, making good use of that extra space and creating a dedicated sleeping area without taking over the rest of the motorhome. There are some nice touches around the bed as well. A wide window sits directly behind, which makes a big difference, bringing in natural light and helping the space feel more open during the day. On either side, you’ve got small ledges and storage nooks for the essentials, along with overhead lockers and storage underneath for the bulkier gear.

Opposite the bed, a wall-mounted TV is positioned for easy viewing, ideal for winding down in the evening with a movie.

For extra travellers, the over-cab bed provides a cosy sleeping space, set up and ready to go at all times. Being positioned above the cab gives it a bit of separation from the rest of the interior, and it’s a handy option for guests or family without needing to reconfigure the dinette each night.

Washing up

Review: Maxus Vantage 7.0
The bathroom boasts a separate shower as well as a washing machine

The bathroom sits right across the rear, running full width, including a separate shower, which means you won’t have to wipe the whole room down every time you use it.

The vanity includes a large round sink with drawers below, a mirror, and good lighting. And for those who like to keep on top of the laundry, there’s a Chobo washing machine included.

Noteworthy extras

Review: Maxus Vantage 7.0
The motorhome is an all-electric setup, keeping everything running on one system

Beyond the layout itself, there are a few extras that round things out nicely.

Getting set up is made easier with the addition of a self-levelling system, which takes the guesswork and hassle out of getting settled on site.

The electric awning extends your living space outdoors in seconds, creating a covered area alongside the motorhome, while the onboard solar supports time away from powered sites.

Inside, comfort is well catered for too, with roof-mounted air conditioning helping keep things comfortable when the summer heat hits. It’s also worth noting the overall fit and finish. The interior has a clean, contemporary look, and everything is neatly put together, with a level of detail that gives it a nicely finished feel.

Summary

Review: Maxus Vantage 7.0
The interior has a clean, contemporary look

The Maxus Vantage 7.0 is a solid option for those after a bit more space, without the bigger price tag.

It’s particularly well-suited to families where having those separate areas for sleeping, living, and the bathroom really makes a difference. And if you’re thinking about spending longer stretches on the road, the Vantage 7.0 really comes into its own. Solar power, a large fridge, air conditioning, and extra storage all make it easier to do more, stay longer, and enjoy the comforts of home while you’re on the road.
