TrailLite manufactured RV's have a reputation for being 'highly specified' and they produce a comprehensive line-by-line information sheet detailing all the items included in the product so it was easy to see the extra items the Landmark versions contained.
Landmark features
The front section of the Oakura 554 is a well-proven layout consisting of twin settees allowing for a dining table to be erected between them on a single leg pedestal. The cab seats rotate to face aft providing seating for six. The table stows away in its own storage space when not needed and it forms the bed base when the dinette is converted into an extra double bed.
The cabinetry is pale grey laminate with a darker grey/brown carpet on the floor. The cushions and the cab seats have oatmeal linen covers, and matching Roman blinds dress the two long windows behind each settee. It is simple, it is elegant – it is TrailLite.
The Landmark package offers an exclusive one-on-one consultation with TrailLite's interior designers to produce a premium interior design style that reflects your own personality. Other upgrades in the 500 Series package are the 'Skyroof' over the cab, and recessed 'halo' LED lighting.
A Fusion premium radio with CD/DVD/iPod connection playing through twin speakers, and a Sky card 'add-on' to the 24-inch RSE TV (mounted on a very practical swinging arm) will be attractive to media buffs. And if you are of nervous disposition, you will enjoy the added protection of the infrared sensor alarm with panic button.
Kitchen
The Oakura kitchen appeals to me for its uncluttered simplicity. Flat fronted cupboards above the window that is behind the bench top and three long drawers and the oven below the bench. A really neat feature is the way the bench is angled leaving room behind the hob for a row of pots or plates. On the wall opposite are the large Dometic 184-litre fridge/freezer and the microwave. Fortunately the gap between fridge and bench is wide enough that passers-by don't interrupt the cook's work.
The Landmark tag brings to the kitchen added features with practical benefits; soft close drawers, a water filter, a 'high and dry' dish rack, an upgraded faucet over the sink and dual slide out waste/recycling bins as well as features with aesthetic appeal; an 'infinity' solid surface bench top with an under mounted sink and drainer with a matching infinity insert, drawer locking that automatically engages when the ignition is turned on and high gloss lacquer paint finish to the cabinet doors and drawer fronts.
Bedroom
The queen-sized bed in the Oakura is set high off the floor but is still surprisingly easy to get into thanks to a series of steps each side. This extra height allows for a set of tallboy height 'his n hers' drawers at the foot of the bed and a capacious garage store room beneath the bed. There are hanging lockers either side of the bed and overhead lockers above meaning you can bring your regular wardrobe with you and have room to spare.
With reading lights above you and an extravagantly padded headboard behind, it's a lovely place for reading or watching your favourite TV show.

Bathroom
The Italian glass bowl handbasin, upgraded in the Landmark from porcelain, is the showpiece here, enhancing the already attractive washroom. Three rails for drying towels are mounted on the compartment door that swings through 90 degrees to close off the access through to the kitchen. A ceiling hatch provides light and ventilation, supplemented at night by an array of LED lights. There is a power point for the hairdryer and a vent for hot air from the heater.
Thank goodness the clear curved plastic shower doors have opaque modesty panel from neck to knee, as some of us are not the pretty sight we once were. The shower is fitted with a heating vent, a roof hatch and a concertina clothesline so it can function as a clothes-drying room.
Outside
The Landmark series exterior colour scheme is quite different from the standard livery. The walls are silver panels instead of white and are decorated with distinctive Landmark graphics and badging. Shiny stainless steel wheel trims are fitted and the bumper and grill surround are painted to match the cab colour.
For your convenience the Landmark package offers an additional exterior locker, an exterior shower, and upgrades the access step from manual to electric. Alongside the standard outside features – rear corner steadies, the BBQ gas point, the dedicated battery and charge management system locker, the dedicated LPG locker (two 9kgs) and the enormous rear garage it adds up to a very comprehensive package.
