The pale and silvery textures and sheens of the upholstery fabrics are serene and calming. It is a nice place to be.
The lounge is conventional with a pair of two-seater settees that can be made up into a second double bed for guests. These settees have novel two-piece armrests that separate (unzip) to lower their height.
Four off-white laminate door/drawer fronts add interest to the otherwise bland ash kitchen cabinetry. When opened, these doors and drawers reveal one of the best storage setups for groceries and utensils currently available in a single-axle caravan.
Its kitchen equipment is top-notch; a Thetford Aspire oven with separate grill and a three-plus-one hob (three LPG plus one 240v). Under the bench opposite is a three-way fridge. Useful bench space is available on the fridge cabinet top opposite the sink, making this practical kitchen a pleasure to work in.
The bathroom is split with the shower driver's side and toilet/vanity compartment kerbside. The toilet compartment door also closes off the kitchen from the bedroom, totally separating the living and sleeping areas. An elegant oval hand basin shares the space with the latest Thetford C260 electric flush toilet. Opposite, the circular 720mm diameter shower is a good size with a shampoo shelf moulded into the wall. The opaque horizontal strips on the clear shower door look nice but won't preserve your modesty.
Coachman has entrusted the task of providing hot air interior heating and hot water heating to the Truma Combi-Boiler, an efficient unit with a 4kW output running on LPG or 1.8kW on 230v electricity.
The island bed with its inner-sprung mattress is comfortable as long as you aren't taller than 1800mm and the padded headboard is a nice touch of luxury. Bed-mates each have their own hanging locker, side table with cabinet beneath and reading lamp. Even the pelmets are put to practical use with a front up-stand creating a useful shelf for odds and ends.
Two externally accessed storage hatches, one for the front boot where the LPG bottle resides; the other giving access to the space under the kerbside settee, provide storage for a table, chairs and even a small bag of golf clubs.
Overall the Pastiche 545/4 layout is an efficient use of space giving the impression of being longer and wider than it is. The New Zealand specification allows a GVW of 1800kgs, providing a very useful payload of 345kgs.
