You can escape a lot of real life by enjoying food on the go and long hours behind the wheel, but weight...there’s more! There’s no need to spurn an extra barbecued sausage or a juicy meat pie, however, as long as you are prepared to acknowledge the consequences. And so it is with your best interests at heart that I mention this: a small travel scale that will help you keep track of your weight while on the road.
It’s made of plastic and metal, and its compact size will make its presence amongst your possessions very discreet. It measures a mere 21 x 15 x 2.5cm (8½ x 6 x 1 inches), so don’t try offering the excuse that you couldn’t possibly find room for it. The sides pull out from the centre to reveal an easy-to-see back-lit digital display. The travel scale, which can support weights of up to 150kg, uses two lithium batteries, and a toggle switch in the battery compartment switches the unit from kilograms to pounds.
It comes in its own zippered carrying case, and is available from American travel supplies company, Magellan’s. The retail price in US dollars is $39.85 (postage and packaging not included).
