This hot cider is a true hug in a glass. Make sure you’re using heatproof glassware! Feel free to leave out the star anise if you don’t like the flavour; a grating of nutmeg is a tasty alternative.
- 330ml apple cider
- 50ml clear apple juice
- 1 stick cinnamon
- 1 star anise
- 1 apple, thinly sliced
- Place all ingredients except sliced apple in a saucepan. Heat slowly over medium heat; do not allow to boil.
- When it starts to steam and you can smell the spices, remove star anise.
- Pour (through a sieve or muslin if you want it clear) into a heatproof glass.
- Garnish with a couple of apple slices and your cinnamon stick and enjoy.
