Grape Royale

A little like the traditional kir royale, this tasty drop is surprisingly simple, and very moreish. Don’t worry about breaking the bank with real Champagne; this drink is delicious with cava or prosecco. Try swapping out the bubbles for lemonade for an alcohol-free option.

Ingredients:

  • 750ml Champagne or sparkling wine
  • 150ml red grape juice
  • 30ml simple syrup
  • 1cm ginger, peeled and grated
  • 1⁄4 teaspoon aged balsamic vinegar

Method:

  1. Combine the grape juice, simple syrup, ginger and balsamic vinegar in a small saucepan and heat until flavours have melded.
  2. Strain and allow to cool.
  3. When ready to serve, pour cooled grape syrup into a jug and top with sparkling wine.
  4. Pour into champagne glasses and serve.
