Citrus Fling

Most of us don’t carry a whole bar when we’re out and about – just a bottle of your favourite is enough to create plenty of cocktail options. If gin’s your thing, try some of these delicious drinks ideas.

Mint and lime are a gin lover’s best friend. This refreshing cocktail makes a great afternoon drink and pairs well with light summer snacks like tomato and feta-topped bruschetta.

Ingredients

  • 45ml dry gin
  • Handful fresh mint, roughly chopped (save the tips for garnish)
  • 1 lime
  • 15mls simple syrup
  • 100mls soda water

Method

In a glass or cocktail shaker, muddle mint with the juice of half a lime. Add ice, gin and simple syrup and shake well until the container is cold. Pour into an ice-filled glass, top with soda water and garnish with mint leaves and lime slices.

Top Tips:

  • Gin and cucumber are another perfect pairing. Hendrick’s is a great gin for pairing with cucumber; try adding a couple of slices of cucumber along with lemon slices to your next G&T for a real flavour sensation.
  • If fruity is more your style, there are loads of delicious flavoured gins to choose from. Try adding fresh blueberries to a flavoured gin like Greenall’s Blueberry Gin with light tonic water and ice; simply stir them in with a straw for a gin fruit burst.
  • If you have time, steep some of your favourite fruits in 100ml of gin for 24 hours; simply add the gin to some crushed fruit, cover and leave in the fridge for a day.
