How good does this sound? Nobody really knows the origins of the margarita, although it’s thought to have been created in Tijuana, Mexico by restaurateur Carlos ‘Danny’ Herrera for a customer who was allergic to all alcohol except tequila.
Yeah, right…
INGREDIENTS
- 1 ripe mango
- 1 cup orange juice
- Juice of 1 lime
- 60ml tequila
- 15ml triple sec
- Dash hot sauce (optional)
FOR THE CHILLI RIM:
- 1 lime wedge
- 1 teaspoon chilli powder
- 1⁄4 teaspoon sea salt flakes
METHOD:
- Add all margarita ingredients to a blender and blend
until smooth. - Taste and adjust sweetness if required.
- Transfer the mix to a cocktail shaker with ice and shake
vigorously. - Moisten the rim of the glass using the lime
wedge, then dip in the salt/chilli powder mix until it sticks
to the rim. - Add ice to the glass, pour in the margarita and
serve with a lime wheel or wedge.
