Hamilton Gardens

Hungerford Crescent, Hamilton

Stretching between the Waikato River and State Highway One on the edge of Hamilton East, this award-winning destination is simply magic. The gardens include large areas of themed landscapes to stroll through, as well as beautifully designed enclosed spaces within five collections: Paradise, Productive, Fantasy, Cultivar, and Landscape. Each collection includes 4-6 individual gardens to explore. There’s so much to see, you may need to plan an entire to visit.

Hamilton Farmers’ Market

Claudelands Park

Held from 8am to noon on Sundays, the Hamilton Farmers’ Market is the place to be if you’re looking for fresh produce, good coffee, and a tasty bite to eat. The market is bustling with stallholders, entertainment, and locals enjoying the community vibe.
The large Claudelands barn provides shelter if the weather isn’t great, and there’s a large, free, car park.

Hamilton Zoo

Hamilton Zoo sits on the outskirts of the city heading north, and covers more than 25 hectares. It’s the second-largest zoo in New Zealand, with beautifully themed areas covering the savannahs of Africa, tropical rainforests, a fantastic walk-through aviary for our native birds, and more.

Good George Brewing

32 Somerset Street, Frankton

If you’re in the mood for something a little stronger than a cuppa, head along to Good George Brewing in the old St George’s Church for a tour. You’ll get a close-up look at Good George’s brewing process, a taste of the brews, a glass to take home, and a discount on a meal.
