In the first of our new Staycation series, we profile some accommodation options for those travelling New Zealand, whether by RV or car. First up is Tasman Holiday Parks Christchurch, where Tom and Jordan Tasman (no relation!) spend some time.
Nestled in the heart of Christchurch and just a short 15-minute drive from both the airport and city centre, Tasman Holiday Parks Christchurch proved to be the perfect base for exploring the vibrant Garden City.
This urban oasis boasts over 300 lush trees, providing a peaceful retreat to relax and unwind while keeping you close to the best attractions and activities Christchurch has to offer.
Modern Comforts

During our visit, we had the pleasure of staying on one of the park’s premium sealed Evergreen powered sites in our 8.4m caravan, parking our tow vehicle behind our site. Being hard standing with astroturf, the surface is both clean and stable, and includes power and water, while being conveniently close to all facilities and amenities.
These spacious, well-maintained sites ensure a seamless stay, whether you’re in a campervan or caravan. The park also offers sealed powered sites, powered sites on grass, and off-grid unpowered sites in a paddock area, catering to a variety of camping preferences. The setting is peaceful and green, making it an ideal retreat after a day of adventure.
For those preferring more traditional accommodation, we arranged for a family member visiting from overseas to stay in one of the one-bedroom motel rooms. Fully self-contained and sleeping up to two guests, the room was spotless, well-equipped, and offered a cozy ambiance, perfect for unwinding after a long day of sightseeing.
The convenience of having a fully functional kitchen meant they could prepare meals with ease, adding a homely touch to the trip. The park offers a range of accommodation options – Kozy Kiwi cottages, self-contained studios, and motel rooms sleeping up to five guests, ensuring there’s something for every type of traveler.
Facilities & Hospitality

Tasman Holiday Parks Christchurch is more than just a place to rest, it’s an experience in itself. One of the standout features is the heated indoor swimming pool, perfect for a relaxing dip any time of year. Starting your morning with a refreshing swim or wind down after a day of exploring is a treat.
The park also boasts modern amenities, including spacious and well-maintained bathrooms, a fully equipped communal kitchen, laundry facilities, and even a secure bike storage area. The on-site team is exceptionally friendly and always willing to assist, making the stay even more enjoyable.
Perfectly Located for Exploring Christchurch

Location is everything, and this holiday park delivers on convenience. Christchurch Airport is just a quick 15-minute drive away, making it a stress-free stop for those flying in or out. But more than that, it places you right in the heart of Christchurch’s best attractions.
Take a short drive into the city and immerse yourself in the beauty of the Christchurch Botanic Gardens, a sprawling paradise of native and exotic flora, ideal for a leisurely stroll or a picnic. For art lovers, the Christchurch Art Gallery Te Puna o Waiwhetū is a must-visit, showcasing an impressive collection of contemporary and historical artworks.
If you’re looking for a bite to eat, the park is ideally situated just a seven-minute walk to local eateries, including the ever-popular Joe’s Garage. We went to Joe’s Garage on Cranford Street and can highly recommend the JFC burger. This Kiwi restaurant is known for its welcoming atmosphere, great coffee, and hearty meals, showcasing genuine New Zealand hospitality.
Final Thoughts

Despite being so close to the city’s major attractions, Tasman Holiday Parks Christchurch maintains a serene, nature-infused atmosphere. The grounds are home to over 300 trees, offering shaded areas, fresh air, and a true sense of calm. It’s an oasis where you can enjoy the best of both worlds, urban convenience and natural beauty.
For anyone looking to explore Christchurch in comfort and style, Tasman Holiday Parks Christchurch is a top-tier choice. For a short visit or an extended stay, the combination of premium accommodation, top-notch facilities, and an unbeatable location makes it the ultimate home base for your Ōtautahi Christchurch adventure.
