International award-winning street performers will leave you flabbergasted with their ridiculous, death defying stunts and hilarious comedy this Auckland Anniversary Weekend.
The Auckland buskers festival features nine international performers, including:
FireGuy (Canada) is ready to make a total “ASH” out of himself mixing fire stunts and skateboard tricks at the same time.
Mario Queen of the Circus (USA) has a unique mix of complex juggling tricks and universal sex appeal that can only find release in the arena-rocking anthems of his favourite supergroup, Queen.
Becky Hoops (Canada) charms and cracks up her public combining absurd characters and her many hula hoops.
Pancho Libre (Mexico) is a highly energetic, skilled acrobat who will have you hooked with impossible feats of strength and danger.
Eddy Eighty (Spain) has a dream to bring 80’s music to the circus world! And he’s made it happen with a unique show that combines love, humour and circus.
Bike Boy (Australia) mixes amazing bicycle stunts, incredible juggling tricks and his spontaneous, zany humour to put on a thrilling, fearless funny show.
Bendy Em (UK), a pint-sized entertainer, formerly a national gymnast and dancer, will have you on the edge of your seat as she comedically bends and contorts her body into freakily mind-boggling positions.
Fraser Hooper (NZ/UK) returns with another mesmeric mime show with classic ingredients of hilarious audience involvement, ridiculous routines and a complete disregard for his own safety.
Justin Sane (Australia) is influenced by the vaudevillians of yesteryear and combines improvisation, juggling, magic and high skill unicycle to create his unique brand of physical comedy.
The Festival is comprised of five sites spread across Auckland’s Waterfront. Sites include Viaduct Harbour sites, Lower Queen Street, Princes Wharf, Wynyard Quarter and our new Queens Wharf site.
The Friday and Saturday night shows at Market Square, Viaduct Harbour have been part of the Festival since 2003 and are a great way to socialise with friends whilst enjoying good outdoor dining in a fun and comical environment.
Festival goers can download a free app for performance and location information, to view performer bios and sponsors profiles. They will also receive real time alerts, news and tweets and be able to send messages into the live event feed. It is available for iPhone, Android and mobile web.
The Auckland International Buskers Festival is brought to you by Auckland Council, Waterfront Auckland, ZM and Crackerjack Promotions.
